The disappearance and separation of the human being inside. The anonymity in the city. What lies underneath the wreckage? So many people get lost in the concrete. Homelessness and the working-class low-income residents are too easily ignored and most often road traffic victims; as if the human being is a statue, camouflaged as a part of the cities landscape. I did numerous Islamic prayers around the city of Los Angeles, Mexico City and now New York. When a person prays in a home everyone in that home receives that prayer. Since sidewalks can span through a city and can be a cite for a home; to do a prayer on one section of the sidewalk extends that prayer to the entirety of the sidewalk. This action took place anonymously throughout Los Angeles County from 2014-2016, until the dress and actions where formally filmed and exhibited in 2016. I did several more anonymous and for exhibition, street interactions for 2 more years concluding at Union Station, Downtown, Los Angeles 2018. This dress and its actions where re-energized in Mexico City in 2022 and now in New York in 2023.
